Fat Transfer Surgery (fat grafting) – Over the past decade, autologous fat grafting or fat transfer surgery has grown greatly in popularity. New techniques and instrumentations have been developed to enhance the success of fat grafting procedures. Fat grafting (aka “fat injection”) is a surgical procedure involving transferring fat cells from areas with excessive fat (abdomen, hips, thighs) and injecting that fat into areas that lack volume. Areas commonly grafted include creases or wrinkles of the face, the atrophic tissues of the back of the hand, the breasts and the buttocks (the so-called “Brazilian butt lift”). Fat grafting is safe, the results are long-lasting, the procedure is well tolerated, and results in a very natural-looking appearance.
